Sim Review: Elyona

Elyona is a medieval sim that uses the widely popular GP hud system, its one sim big and has sky boxes for places and such. Its built well, but pretty laggy in the build. The sim over all is pretty basic in looks for medieval fantasy, not a bad thing, if you get past the lag.

The sim is heavily based on XP, everything in it revolves around it, the more XP the higher you level. The sim is dice combat (however the levels apply to your dice outcome.) They really push for you to be in a group, now groups not always a bad thing, but this sim to me, has waaaay to many groups and not enough roleplayers. Plus after being in a couple of groups and talking to a few players, the sim has a serious bad clique problem. It has been brought to the admins attention, but doesn't seem to matter. Most hide in their hideouts or homes.

The have a class, which wouldn't be so bad, but they try to force everyone to take. Its a class base on the hud (that almost alot of sims use) the lore (you can read in the website, but in the class you could ask questions.) the rules (again on website) and such. However I been to a couple and they don't really answer questions, its clear they only read from a nc and dont move from it, while having everything on a nc is not a bad thing, it becomes a problem if questions are ignore or given a vague robotic remarks.

Biggest issue is the lack of evil factions and sim story. There really isn't much for roleplay story in the sim that could entice players. They mostly seem like a event sim, meaning only active when events are happening, like the mining event and such. The factions that are suppose to be evil I notice they do more good then the good factions.

I also notice some bullying from admins and mentors and that seems to be ignored when brought up. The sim has potential, if they get a real evil faction, a sim story going to entice new players and not be too pushy or forceful with new players about their classes.

Every sim has classes, but the difference is, they don't make players go to them, they are there for players when they need them or want to attend. Also be good if they had more then one type of class, some sims have a welcome to the sim class, along with lore class, rp etiquette class, combat class, hud class. Separate classes that make players feel more comfortable attending and not feeling like they are being class as stupid and rope in a newbie class. While trying to rope all things in one class sounds better, it just kinda makes it hard to focus on certain things.

Another thing is the sims just not super active, it maintains about 17 players sometimes 26 and on a good event day 40. However outside of events most just stay in rentals or their faction home and notice a complaint with new players of being ignored and its an issue the admins never address and maybe should make a class to help figure out why this is a trend.

I also notice people who use GP hud in other sims have status for players to put in their titler, like looking for roleplay, shy roleplayer (Which I find great for people who are shy and maybe help others come and interact with them.) erp (for players that just want that.) predator, prey and so on.

Again the sim has potential, its got a good lore, pretty open character creation, the build is solid. Just could use a few changes to help it grow, different classes, not be pushy with groups ( not everyone likes groups) actual evil factions, sim story for people to get involved in (great ice breaker for new players too)

Its worth a checking out, but sadly the way it is now, not worth putting time in for a story that won't go anywhere unless you are in the "IT" crowd. Thats my tea.
